1. Describe the time and place in which your novel is set. What clues within the book tell us this?

In the Wind in the Willows the time would be around the mid 18 - 1900's. The place the Wind in the Willows was set is probably in Europe. (english accents)
In Chelsea and Astra I think that this book is set in 2009 or 2008 because it is a very modern book.

2. Who are the main characters in your book? List the names and a short description of their personality traits.

Toad - Tricky/Addictive to things like motor cars/funny/cleverMole - Shy/neat/cautious/worrying/good friendRat - Exciting/adventurous/CaringBadger - Unfriendly/Helpful/Friend/Independent

Chelsea - very popular/loves fashion/ such an actress
Astra - very indepth/ loves horoscopes/believes in magic/spiritual

3. Describe the significant relationships between the main characters.

Toad, Rat, Badger - Very good friend with each other, Rat and Badger are always trying to help Toad with his addictions and in the book they helped him get the Foxes out of Toad Hall.
Mole and Rat - At first they were aquaintances but after the adventure of a life time soon became very good friends and they are alway able to trust one another.
Mole,Toad,Badger and Rat - At first, Toad, Badger and Rat didn't know Mole very well but soon Mole became trust worthy to the others and became very good friends. Now they all hang out together going on adventures.
Chelsea and Astra have been best friends for a long time even though they have complete different personalities.
Chelsea/Astra/Ben - Chelsea and Astra adore Ben and think he is the perfect guy for them.

4. Who is your favourite character and why? Or - Who is the character that you can most closely relate to and why?

My favorite character is Toad. He is a wacky crazy Toad that has these addictions to hobbies like driving motorcars, I like him because he is so unexpected and also because even though his addictions make him busy, he still has time for his friends.
My favorite character is Astra. She is very spiritual and believes in astrology and everything, and she daydreams alot and I like that kind of personality for a character.

5. Describe the style of language and literary devices that the author uses.

a) Find examples of; colourful adjectives, similes, metaphor, dramatic irony, etc..

b) Find a quote (with page number) for each example.

The style of language is very proper because I guess it is a very classic book so they use words like indeed instead of yes and also use phrases like "thats very proper" and the book has no slang in it. Some similes from the book are - he ran as fast as a cheetah. ect.
adjectives - beautiful,nice,dismal,generous,foolish,flourish,old,unplanned,rustle.
The language in Chelsea and Astra is very modern, it uses slang in scentences for conversations. This book only uses some words I have never heard of like promptely and delving. There was also so much dramatic irony because they both wrote different sides of the story like a diary. Some language features in this book are : As a rose kisses a dewdrop, As sweet as you, your hair is like a lions mane.ect. one quote from the book is - keep your friends close but keep your enemies closer.

6. Is your book an example of ‘classic’ or ‘modern’ literature? You must use evidence to back up your stance. For example; has your book stood the ‘test of time’? Are there theme’s that will transcend time?

I think The Wind In The Willows is an example of classic literature but as been copied several times into "easier-to-read" books for kids, otherwise the original Wind In The Willows copy is classic literature. As I read the easier to read book, I dont have many examples. They use words like marvelous, stupendous, leisurely and indeed instead of yes.
I thinnk Chelsea and Astra is an example of modern literature. I actually think that this book won't stand the test of time because its not an original book and it has many other closely related books starting on the same story line.

7. After reading the book, write a short note to a friend describing the book. Include a description of the genre, setting and difficulty level. You need to also include the following information; What were the main themes in the book? What was the central conflict? How was it resolved?

Describe your feelings towards the novel.

Did you enjoy it, why or why not?

Did you find it easy to get into? Did you like it the more that you read it?

Would you read more books by the same author, or of a similar genre?

The Wind In The Willows is a very sweet book, if your into happy endings and a book with lots of friends that love each other then you would love this book, the genre of this book I would say is Classic. Its such a classic and its a humble book, its not a very typical book but one you can read and finish with a smile. The setting on this book is in the country, as the main characters are animals they live in holes underground or live by the river in little huts made out of twigs. This book is quite easy to read, so the diffuculty level is quite low. The theme of this book would probably be friendships. The central conflict would probably be Toad and his mates fighting over his addiction to motorcars and The 4 pals trying to save Toad Hall from those evil foxes who have raided it. I really loved the book because even though it is a typical friendship book it had very interesting parts to the book. I would love to read more books from the author, i think that by reading the Wind In The Willows, the author is very good at writing! I love books that are sweet little classics because you can read them at every age and not get tired of them!
Chelsea and Astra is about two best friends who have entirely different unique personalities but still manage to get along extremely well untill a boy called Ben arrives at their school which the two girls both fall in love with him but then the catfight starts..
The genre of this book would definetly be relationships because it has different types of relationships in this book. The setting of this book would be in the city and at a high school. The difficulty level would be around medium because its not to easy that you cant read it but its alright. There was a lot of conflict in this book between the two girls. It was resolved by the boy leaving and running away while they found out that he was just using them. This novel was a good novel to read for a day but then I put the book down. definetly not one of my favorites because there are so many books based on a similar type of story. I would read some more books by their author because she has some pretty good books apparently.
